Sergio Perez will stay with Cadillac until at least 2029 after signing a contract extension with the championship's newest team.
The deal was announced on the eve of the Mexico City Grand Prix, where the 36-year-old is set to make his 300th Grand Prix start.
A longer commitment
Perez joined Cadillac alongside Valtteri Bottas for the team's first season in 2026 after a year out of the sport.
His new contract now covers the rest of the decade. If he sees it out, 2029 will be his 18th season in the world championship.
A difficult first year
Cadillac has found the going hard in its debut season. With five rounds left, neither Perez nor Bottas has scored a point.
A long career
Perez made his debut with Sauber at the 2011 Australian Grand Prix. He has won six Grands Prix.
The first came for Racing Point at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix. The other five came for Red Bull: Azerbaijan in 2021, Monaco and Singapore in 2022, and Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan in 2023.
He finished third in the 2022 championship and second in 2023, behind his then team-mate Max Verstappen. He left Red Bull after the 2024 season.
A big weekend at home
Sunday's race will be his 300th start, and it comes in front of his home crowd in Mexico City.
It is a big weekend at the front too. Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli needs two points to become world champion.
The Mexico City Grand Prix starts at 2pm local time on Sunday 1 November, which is 1:30am on Monday in India.
Race it on Late Brake
Mexico City isn't one of the circuits in Late Brake, but Monza, where the photo above was taken, is. Take on the Temple of Speed in the free browser game, race your own ghost lap after lap and chase the gold medal time of 1:26.5.
