McLaren will bring upgrades to its MCL40 at this weekend's São Paulo Grand Prix, including a new front wing concept it expects to use on its 2027 car.

The team is fourth in the constructors' championship, 17 points behind Red Bull, with four races left.

What is new

The package covers the front wing, the rear wing and some floor parts. McLaren calls it part of its normal development cycle.

Peter Prodromou, the team's chief technical officer for aerodynamics, said the aim was to make up ground over the remaining races and build momentum into next year. He said the team hoped the parts could help it "take another step towards the front".

McLaren also expects the idea behind the new front wing to carry over to the launch version of its 2027 car.

From winners to fourth

McLaren's last big update came in Hungary, where Lando Norris won. He won again at the next race, at Zandvoort.

The team has slipped back since then. Red Bull now has 382 points to McLaren's 365 in the fight for third. Mercedes leads the teams' table, with Ferrari second.

Testing the parts on Friday

McLaren will try the new parts in practice. Reserve driver Leo Fornaroli takes one of the cars in first practice, which starts at 9:00pm India time on Friday 6 November.

The race starts at 10:30pm India time on Sunday 8 November.

Race it on Late Brake
